The GR Yaris Rally2 H2 concept was developed at the TGR-WRT headquarters in Jyväskylä, Finland, and tested on local roads, including runs on gravel forest roads similar to those used in Rally Finland. As part of its public debut, the car will showcase its capabilities on the mixed surface of the Harju Stage in the center of Jyväskylä. Behind the wheel will be four-time world champion Kankkunen, deputy team principal of TGR-WRT.
The Toyota Rally2 H2 emits virtually no harmful substances into the atmosphere during operation while preserving the sounds and sensations that rally fans love.
Since 2021, Toyota has been participating in the Japanese Super Taikyu series with a hydrogen prototype Corolla. In 2022, the technology was first demonstrated at rally stages in Europe when the experimental GR Yaris H2 debuted at a FIA World Rally Championship stage in Belgium, driven by Akio Toyoda and Juha Kankkunen. Since then, development has continued, resulting in the creation of the Rally2 H2 concept, which will be showcased at Rally Finland.
The Rally2 H2 car will also be displayed in the service park during the event alongside other hydrogen vehicles such as the Toyota Mirai and Tundra as part of a broader demonstration of hydrogen technologies in the city of Jyväskylä.
