Chinese BYD has announced achieving another milestone: the 13 millionth new energy vehicle has rolled off the assembly line - this is the term used in China for all battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.

The anniversary model is the premium sedan Yangwang U7. Just eight months ago, in November 2024, BYD celebrated the release of its 10 millionth electric vehicle - it was the Denza Z9 GT.

But let’s return to the Yangwang U7. The sedan is offered in two versions: a fully electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid. The electric vehicle is equipped with four motors with a total power of 960 kW (1,287 hp) and accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 270 km/h. The range according to the CLTC cycle reaches 720 km thanks to a 135.5 kWh battery. The length is 5,265 mm.

The plug-in hybrid is slightly longer at 5,360 mm. It uses the same four-motor setup combined with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 200 kW (268 hp). This setup is powered by a 52.4 kWh battery and a 60-liter fuel tank. The electric range is 200 km, while the total range exceeds 1,000 km.

Yangwang U7 features Disus-Z suspension with electromagnetic actuators, as well as an independent four-motor YiSiFang drive system. The rear wheels can steer up to 20 degrees, allowing the turning radius to be reduced to 4.85 meters.

The interior features symmetrical architecture with a 12.8-inch OLED screen in the center, a digital 23.6-inch instrument panel with a 3D effect, and an additional 23.6-inch screen in front of the passenger. The voice assistant recognizes dialects and can even read lips, with a response delay of less than 300 milliseconds.

Yangwang U7 is available in four and five-seat configurations. The top four-seat version includes separate seats with ventilation, heating, and massage, two refrigerators, and an entertainment system for rear passengers. Both versions are equipped with a premium Dynaudio Platinum audio system.

In China, Yangwang U7 is priced from 628,000 yuan (approximately $87,500), while the flagship four-seat version is priced at 708,000 yuan (around $98,500).
