The appointment was officially confirmed on Friday, July 25, and is part of a major top-level reorganization - earlier, the CEO of Stellantis changed (Antonio Filosa took over), and the management of brands was also revised.
Now Ralph Gilles is responsible for the entire global design of Stellantis, while Vidal will oversee the European brands of the group: Citroën, Fiat, Peugeot, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Maserati, Opel, and DS.
Before joining Renault, Vidal worked for over 20 years at Peugeot, where he played a key role in the development of models such as the 208, 308, and 3008 - all of which received the title "European Car of the Year" between 2015 and 2019.
In 2020, he joined Renault with Luca de Meo and focused on updating the brand’s design language, including the key models of the new wave. Now, Vidal is returning to Stellantis to set a new course for several brands at once.
