The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claims that millions of Americans find this feature for cars annoying and frustrating.

Start/Stop turns off the engine when the car is stationary and restarts it when needed, helping to save fuel and reduce harmful emissions. Currently, automakers are interested in installing this system in their vehicles, as the EPA encourages them to do so. However, this may soon change.

Back in May, EPA head Lee Zeldin stated that this technology is nothing more than a reward for participating in the fight against climate change. Recently, his administration told AutoNews that the Start/Stop technology in cars is causing dissatisfaction among millions of Americans. The EPA intends to tackle this "issue".

There are undoubtedly many ordinary drivers who dislike this feature. Proponents of having Start/Stop insist that such people can simply turn it off.

«I think people like to save on gas, and if not, it [Start/Stop] can be turned off», — said Albert Gore, executive director of the Zero Emissions Transportation Association. «I don’t understand why we should deprive people of this option». Perhaps the solution will be to keep the system but make it default off instead of on.
