The main advantage of the new version is its fuel efficiency. Toyota claims a fuel consumption of 3.4 l/100 km.

Toyota has updated its smallest sedan, the Yaris Ativ (also known as Vios in some markets), adding a sporty GR Sport version and a hybrid powertrain. The new model was presented in Thailand.

Externally, the GR Sport is distinguished by a reworked front bumper with enlarged air intakes, a developed body kit with side skirt overlays, a diffuser, and a black spoiler. The package includes 17-inch wheels, a black roof, and mirrors, as well as Gazoo Racing branded emblems. Available body colors: Platinum White Pearl, Red Mica Metallic, and Attitude Black Mica.

In the cabin, there is a combined trim of artificial leather, contrasting gray stitching, and GR logos on the steering wheel and headrests. The equipment includes a multimedia system with a 10.1-inch screen, a Pioneer audio system with six speakers, wireless charging, climate control, ambient lighting, and a suite of Toyota Safety Sense assistants.

As with other GR Sport models, the emphasis is not on power, but on handling: the suspension and steering have been reconfigured.

The main technical innovation is the hybrid. It is borrowed from the Yaris and Yaris Cross, built on the same TNGA-B platform. The unit combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (90 hp) with an electric motor (79 hp), producing a total of 110 hp and working through an e-CVT transmission. The power is provided by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 0.7 kWh. The average fuel consumption is claimed to be 3.4 l/100 km.

The hybrid is offered not only in the GR Sport version but also in a more subdued Premium configuration, where instead of a body kit, there are 16-inch wheels and a black-gray interior.

In cheaper configurations, the 1.2-liter engine producing 93 hp remains, paired with a CVT transmission. These configurations are Premium Luxury, Premium, Smart, and Sport.

In Thailand, the Yaris Ativ HEV has become the most affordable Toyota hybrid: prices start at 719,000 baht ($22,200) for the Premium version and 769,000 baht ($23,800) for the GR Sport. The base gasoline sedan with a 1.2-liter engine starts at 549,000 baht ($17,000).

Additionally, two extra packages are offered: Charismo Drift (19,990 baht, $620) and GR Accessories (28,990 baht, $900).

The Yaris Ativ will be produced in Thailand, from which the hybrid will be exported to 23 countries in Southeast Asia.
