Volkswagen is preparing to premiere a new entry-level electric crossover at the Munich Motor Show. VW chief designer Andreas Mindt has published official sketches of the concept on social media, which the manufacturer describes as "almost serial."

The model will be the electric equivalent of the T-Cross and the younger brother of the ID.4. In terms of size, it will fall into the subcompact SUV segment, but in the illustrations, it has a more convincing look due to the large wheels and elongated proportions. The design features slim LED headlights, a massive bumper protection, relief wings in the style of ID.Every1, and a continuous line of rear lights. Some details, including the futuristic diffuser with backlighting, will likely be simplified in the production version.

The car will be based on the MEB Entry platform, known from the ID.2all and ID.1Every concepts. The list of modifications will include versions with front and all-wheel drive, with one or two electric motors. Production will be set up at the plant in Pamplona (Spain), which currently produces the T-Cross and Taigo. The related Skoda Epiq will also be assembled there.

The price is expected to be slightly higher than the ID.2all (from €25,000 in Germany) - approximately €25,000-30,000 ($27,000-32,000). The new model will have to compete with the Kia EV2 and EV3, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Suzuki e-Vitara, Ford Puma Gen-E, Peugeot E-2008, Opel Mokka Electric, Jeep Avenger, Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica, and Volvo EX30.
