Volkswagen presented the ID. Cross concept. It is a precursor to an electric crossover priced at up to 30 thousand euros with a range of up to 420 km.

The ID. Cross Concept debuted at the IAA Mobility 2025 motor show in Munich. The name Cross indicates that we are looking at the electric equivalent of the compact crossover T-Cross, although in reality they have little in common.

The ID. Cross will become part of a new line of small electric vehicles from Volkswagen based on the updated front-wheel drive MEB architecture. The family will also include ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI, which are expected to debut in 2026, plus the production version of the ID. Every1 concept, which will be released in 2027 and is likely to be named ID. Up.

With a wheelbase of 2601 mm, the ID. Cross measures 4161 mm in length. The trunk holds 490 liters, and there is an additional compartment in the front with 25 liters, which is a novelty for ID series electric vehicles.

The ID. Cross features more plastic elements on the outside, an original design for the rear body pillars, and 21-inch wheels. Overall, the crossover has a less strict appearance than the ID. Polo hatchback.

In the interior, motifs from the ID. 2all concept can be seen: in front of the driver - an 11-inch digital instrument panel and a two-spoke steering wheel. In the center - a 13-inch tablet, under which there is a block of physical buttons, which was clearly lacking in the earlier VW electric vehicles.

The seats can fold flat to the floor, transforming the cabin into a sort of camper. The backs are trimmed with a material resembling a yoga mat.

It is known that the ID. Cross is equipped with a front electric motor with a power of 211 hp (155 kW), which is slightly less than in the ID. Polo GTI (223 hp). The range reaches 420 km according to the WLTP cycle.

Officially this is a concept, but the production version will be released next summer and will differ little from the showcased prototype. Sales are expected to start at the end of 2026. The starting price will be around 28 thousand euros, and its competitors will include the Kia EV2, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford Puma Gen-E, and Volvo EX30.
