The main change concerns the new flagship SUV, known by its internal index K1. Initially, it was supposed to be purely electric, but it will now debut with gasoline and plug-in hybrid versions.
The future of classic models has also been confirmed: the Panamera and Cayenne will retain internal combustion engines as well as hybrid options at least until the 2030s. They are included in the brand’s long-term update cycle.
At the same time, Porsche has acknowledged that the launch of some planned electric vehicles has been postponed. It is not specified which particular models are affected, but it is likely related to projects such as the successor to the Macan EV. The development of a new specialized platform for electric vehicles, which was supposed to be released by the 2030s, has been suspended. It will later be refined in collaboration with other Volkswagen Group brands.
The reason for the changes is the slowing growth in demand for premium electric vehicles.
At the same time, key EV projects continue. The Cayenne EV (in standard and coupe versions) will be released on schedule, as well as a new sports electric car in the 718 segment. Additionally, Porsche has confirmed the release of a new SUV with an internal combustion engine, which will replace the current Macan and will be sold alongside the Macan EV.
