The Chinese company Xiaomi has officially opened its first research, development, and design center for electric vehicles Xiaomi EV outside of China in Germany.

The Xiaomi EV R&D center is located in Munich — one of the leading hubs of automotive engineering and design. The new division will focus on the development of high-performance vehicles, electric vehicle technologies, design innovations, and forward-looking research.

The opening of the Munich center is one of the stages in the global strategy of Xiaomi EV and the implementation of the smart ecosystem concept of “Human x Car x Home.” By leveraging global competencies and the ecosystem, the company aims to accelerate breakthroughs in intelligent driving and vehicle dynamics.

Engineers, designers, and researchers will work at the center in collaboration with global teams of Xiaomi EV. The company is investing in the development of international talents, creating an open environment for breakthroughs in vehicle performance, autonomous driving, platforms, and next-generation user experiences.

The center will also establish cooperation with scientific institutions and cross-industry partnerships to accelerate the development of smart mobility solutions, ecosystem integration, infrastructure development, and ethical AI.

Let us remind you that Xiaomi EV plans to enter the European market in 2027. Currently, the company produces two models of electric vehicles: the sedan SU7 and the crossover YU7. A sporty version of the SU7 — SU7 Ultra is also available.
