In September, Norway recorded two records for electric vehicles. Firstly, 98.3% of all new passenger cars were fully electric. Secondly, according to the results of the first nine months of the year, electric vehicles accounted for 95% of the market – another historical maximum.

The Norwegian Road Administration (OFV) registered 14,084 new electric vehicles in September. A total of 245 vehicles had a different type of powertrain. Even for Norway, a pioneer in electrification, such a high percentage has been achieved for the first time. However, in recent months, the share of electric vehicles has often exceeded 95%, for example reaching 97% in August.

With a record share of electric vehicles, total sales are also rising. In September, 14,329 new passenger cars were registered – 10% more than a year ago. Over the first nine months of 2025, registrations reached 113,325 units, which is 23.5% more than the same period in 2024.
