According to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), Germany has ordered more than 1000 army trucks Mercedes-Benz Zetros for Ukraine.

The deal closed with Daimler Truck is based on about 340 Zetros vehicles that have been delivered since the beginning of the comprehensive Russian invasion into Ukraine. Nothing was publicly known about the purchase. According to FAZ, Berlin is likely funding the order as part of military aid for Kyiv.

Daimler Truck has not commented on the matter, and the German government has kept the details of future support confidential. The value of the contract is estimated to be several hundred million euros. It is one of the largest orders for the delivery of vehicles within a confidential aid program from Germany.

Deliveries are expected to occur gradually as production ramps up.
