The head of Tofas – the Turkish manufacturer that produces the Tipo/Egea at the Bursa plant – stated:
“As for the Egea, we will make a final decision on its production soon. Even if we decide to continue production, it will be for a maximum of six months. We will complete production [no later than] in June 2026.”
Elordu added that the Fiat Tipo, which is sold in Turkey under the name Fiat Egea, will be replaced by the “right product” as buyer preferences have shifted from sedans to crossovers.
This means that we should not expect a new Fiat Tipo in 2026-2027 as a classic five-door hatchback, four-door sedan, or station wagon. The new Tipo will become a crossover or SUV, the platform and style of which are currently unknown. It may be the already showcased “Grande Panda SUV” in a heavily camouflaged form. Fiat also announced the “Giga Panda.”
The Stellantis management recently traveled to Turkey to strengthen the alliance between the corporation and the Turkish conglomerate Koç Holding for the implementation of future joint venture plans with Tofas. However, the head of Tofas stated that the formula that led to the production of 700,000 units of the Tipo over ten years will be carried over to the new model. Likely, it will include a good balance of price and features.
