The Swedish electric car brand Polestar is the first in the industry to integrate Google Maps’ "Live-Lane-Guidance" function into the digital dashboards of its vehicles.

In the coming months, the new feature will be available in Polestar 4 models in the US and Sweden. The system uses artificial intelligence to analyze lane markings and signs. It gathers data from the front camera, displays the lane layout directly on the 10.2-inch screen in front of the driver, and provides visual and audible alerts when a lane change is necessary.

According to Sid Odedra, the Head of the UI/UX department at Polestar, the collaboration between Polestar and Google has brought many innovations to vehicle owners over the past five years. The "Live-Lane-Guidance" function aims at the driver’s comfort and safety, reduces stress while driving, and minimizes the risk of missing exits or having to make abrupt last-second turns.

The update will be delivered via OTA (Over-the-Air) and will cover more markets and road types over time. All Polestar 4 vehicles with Google built-in will automatically receive the new feature.
