The joint venture of Sony and Honda — Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) — presented a new electric crossover under the Afeela brand. The model currently has the working name Afeela Prototype 2026.

The new prototype is a coupe-like crossover that noticeably differs from the SHM Afeela 1 sedan with a higher body. At the same time, the design retains general features with the Afeela 1. The model has a minimalist front part with a full-width light strip and no decorative imitation of a radiator grille. The crossover’s clearance is clearly higher than the sedan’s, and the prototype’s body is configured in a two-tone scheme with a black roof.

SHM partially disclosed the technical details. It is known that Afeela 1 is equipped with 40 sensors, including one lidar, 18 cameras, and nine radars for driver assistance systems. The company plans to eventually bring the proprietary Afeela Intelligent Drive system to the fourth level of autonomy, where the vehicle can drive itself in most conditions.

Afeela 1 is equipped with two electric motors with a power of 241 hp each, all-wheel drive, and air suspension. The estimated range is 480 km. According to the company, the crossover will be at least on par with the sedan in terms of power and dynamics.

SHM emphasizes the multimedia capabilities of its vehicles. Afeela 1 will be the first model with native support for PS Remote Play, which allows running games from a home PlayStation directly in the car. This feature is also expected to appear in the crossover.

The starting price of the sedan Afeela 1 is 89,900 USD. The crossover is likely to be more expensive. The production version is expected to hit the US market in 2028.
