The revival of the Opel Manta sports model is delayed at least until the early 2030s. In the coming years, priority for the brand is given to mass models.

The plans of the company were revealed by Opel CEO Florian Huettl in an interview with Der Spiegel. According to him, the Manta project still exists and has already been worked out at the design level, but none of these versions will hit the market before 2030. It was previously assumed that the Manta would return in the middle of the current decade in the form of an electric car. As a hint towards a production model, Opel showed the electric concept Manta A, which was conceived as an 'emotional warm-up' before the launch of the new version.

Within the Stellantis group, Opel has revised its medium-term priorities. Currently, the brand is more focused on updating key mass models, especially the compact Corsa and crossovers. The sixth generation of the Opel Corsa has been produced since 2019 and underwent a facelift in mid-2023. In 2026, the lineup will be supplemented with a GSE version with an electric motor producing 207 kW. The Mokka crossover hit the market in 2021, was updated in 2024, and from the end of 2025, it's available in a more powerful electric version Mokka GSE.

New generations of Corsa and Mokka are expected to appear within the next 18 months, while the return of the iconic Manta remains a project for the future.
