All Hyundai models equipped with the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) multimedia platform will receive updates faster and automatically—without the owner's involvement.

Updates for the standard navigation maps could previously be installed without visiting a dealer. Car owners could download the files from the official Hyundai website and transfer them to the onboard system via a USB drive or SD card. Additionally, from 2022 onwards, OTA updates ("over the air") began to be implemented. The first to receive this capability was the Hyundai Ioniq 5, followed by other models.

However, until recently, navigation software and map updates were infrequent and part of large software packages.

What will change

New OTA updates are more compact. Accordingly, the download time is reduced, and the update frequency increases. Maps can even be updated while driving. In this case, only relevant sections are downloaded in the background. The updated data becomes active after the next vehicle start.

In Europe, online map downloads will be available from March 2026. Mandatory conditions include having a ccNC multimedia system and a Bluelink Pro subscription costing 9.99 euros per month. The subscription also includes streaming services, a route planner considering charging stations, online navigation with traffic information, online speech recognition, a digital key (unlocking the vehicle via smartphone), and remote functions, including starting preheating or cooling of the cabin.
