Audi has announced a new electric hatchback, the A2 e-tron, which will hit the market in the fall of 2026. The model will be assembled at the Ingolstadt plant. The novelty will become the most affordable in the brand's electric vehicle family.

The development was announced at the annual media conference. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner announced a new line of electric vehicles, of which the A2 e-tron will be a part. According to the company, the model is aimed at everyday use, combining compactness, energy efficiency, and original design.

The first design sketch shows the silhouette of the car. Judging by the image, the A2 e-tron will have a distinctive rear shape reminiscent of the 1999 Audi A2 model. According to preliminary information, the novelty will be built on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.3 (in the future — ID.3 Neo). Expected length — about 4.25 meters.

The A2 name refers to the original model of the late 1990s, intended for urban use. In the e-tron version, this approach is adapted to the electric powertrain.

Production in Ingolstadt emphasizes the significance of the project for Audi's German facilities. The launch of the new electric model will be part of the transformation of the company's plants and the expansion of electric vehicle production in Germany.
