The dimensions of the new model are 4.76 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, and 1.48 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.90 meters. Compared to the current 3 Series sedan with internal combustion engines, the electric version is slightly larger. The design of the i3 has recognizable features of the '3 Series', but overall looks more strict.
The design includes new lighting elements, including the optional Iconic Glow grille illumination and dynamic lighting scenarios. Initially, 11 body color options will be offered, including the new M Le Castellet Blue. To improve aerodynamics, concealed window seals, recessed door handles, and a completely flat bottom are used.
