Volkswagen updated the Caddy: now it travels over 120 km on electricity and has received a modern interior.

The Volkswagen Caddy remains one of those cars that people buy not for emotions, but for its ability to be useful in any situation. However, the 2026 update clearly shows that even this "workhorse" wants to look modern and meet strict environmental trends. The fifth generation of the model, which has already sold over 500,000 units since its release in 2020, has undergone a planned rejuvenation.

The Germans decided not to reinvent the wheel, but focused on what matters: the autonomy of the electric drive and the digitalization of the workspace. At the same time, the Caddy has retained its main feature—phenomenal versatility, offering solutions for both couriers and camping enthusiasts.

Exterior: cosmetic tweaks for a fresh look

The main focus of the restyling was the front bumper. It now has a different structure, which can be either simple textured (for work versions) or painted in body color (for passenger versions), depending on the configuration. Along with new colors and wheels ranging from 16 to 18 inches, the car looks less utilitarian.

Hybrid setup: 122 km without a drop of gasoline

The most interesting part is under the hood. The main news is the upgraded eHybrid version. This is a plug-in hybrid that can now travel up to 122 km purely on electric power. The total range, including the gasoline engine, exceeds 620 km.

For those not ready for sockets, Volkswagen retains its time-tested diesel and gasoline engines. The company understands that for highway transport and heavy work, diesel remains a favorite among professionals.

Interior and technology: more screens

Significant changes are expected in the architecture of the front panel. Volkswagen announced the introduction of a new central display of the multimedia system, which will be larger and have a "floating" design. This should address user complaints about the ergonomics of early versions of the fifth generation. The new software promises to be faster and more stable.

Special attention was paid to the Flexible version. It allows transforming a five-seater car into a truck with a partition in just a few minutes, which is ideal for small business owners who use one car for both work and family.

Polish roots and sales

Caddy is a true success story of the factory in the city of Poznań. Since 2003, the model has been exclusively produced there. During this time, almost 2.9 million units have rolled off the assembly line. Just in 2025, over 110,000 vehicles were delivered, making the model the most popular representative of the Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge lineup. Such popularity is due to its flexibility: the lineup includes the Cargo van, passenger Life and Style, extended Maxi, and even a full-fledged compact motorhome California.

The full launch of orders for the updated family is scheduled for mid-2026.
