The Chinese automotive industry continues to generate innovations faster than we can remember them. This time in the spotlight is the Leapmotor B05 Ultra, which is known in its homeland as the Lafa 5. This is the top version of the compact electric car, which has already started appearing in dealerships in China. If the standard B05 is an ordinary city “electric car,” then the Ultra tries to play on the field of “hot” hatchbacks, offering not only an aggressive appearance but also a significant technical update.
The main change is hidden under the hood, or more precisely, in the power unit. The Ultra version received an electric motor with a power of 180 kW (241 hp), making it the most powerful in the series. To emphasize this status, designers added a sporty body kit: a two-level front splitter, new side skirts, and a rear spoiler with an aggressive design.
Interior with a hint of premium
Inside the Leapmotor B05 Ultra, there have also been significant changes. Instead of the usual plastic and fabric, synthetic suede dominates, covering most surfaces. The sporty front seats feature "Ultra" embroidery and also offer an 8-point massage — a rarity for this segment. The seat belts are now painted in the body color, adding a complete sporty look to the interior.
In terms of dimensions, the car has remained true to itself: the length is 4430 mm, the width is 1880 mm, and the wheelbase of 2735 mm promises good space for rear passengers. Buyers are offered two options for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries: 56.2 kWh with a range of 515 km and 67.1 kWh which allows for up to 605 km on a single charge. Of course, these are figures according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, so in real-world conditions, they will be slightly more modest.
