Opel Corsa — it's usually about practicality, economy, and peaceful grocery runs. But in 2026, everything will change. Opel is bringing out the GSE version, which promises to become the "pocket rocket launcher".
Senior Siblings' Fillings
The secret of the Corsa GSE’s power lies in the deep unification within the Stellantis group. Instead of developing unique components from scratch, the Germans took proven initiatives from the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce. This means an electric motor with 280 horsepower will settle on the front axle.

For comparison: the previous most powerful electric version of the Corsa had only 156 hp. A leap almost twice is a serious statement in the compact hatchback segment. This unit will be powered by a 54 kW·h battery. Of course, range records take a back seat here, as the main task of the GSE is to convert accumulated kilowatts into pure adrenaline.
More Than Just Speed in a Straight Line
A sports car is not just about acceleration numbers to "hundred". Opel understands this perfectly, so the Corsa GSE will receive a whole set of modifications for those who appreciate precise handling. Expect a retuned suspension with stiffer shock absorbers, a sharper steering wheel, and, most importantly, a mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential.
The latter point is important for a front-wheel-drive car with such high torque. It will allow efficiently realizing all the power when exiting corners without turning the front tires into a cloud of smoke. Technically, we receive a twin of the Abarth 600e, but in a more restrained and familiar body of the German brand.
Nostalgia in Every Pixel of Camouflage
The first official shots of the prototype in camouflage film are a separate bow toward fans of the old school. The camouflage pattern is not accidental: it refers to the seat designs of the legendary Opel Corsa GSi, Corsa SR, and Corsa GT of the 80s and 90s.
External changes, despite the film, are already visible: more aggressive bumpers, expanded air intakes for cooling the power electronics and brakes, as well as original large-diameter wheels. Inside, there will undoubtedly be sports seats with developed side support and specific decor inherent in the GSE series.
The official premiere is scheduled for the Paris Motor Show in 2026, which will take place from October 12 to 18. Then we will learn the final specifications and, most importantly, the price of this electric hooligan.
