Elon Musk's company has filed for a new trademark for the Roadster. After years of delays, this looks like a hint at preparation for launch.

Tesla introduced the second generation Roadster almost ten years ago. Mass production was promised to start in 2020, but the model never reached the assembly line.

Now there is a new reason to remember the electric sports car. At the end of April, Tesla filed a new trademark application related to the Roadster.

A new logo for the sports car

It concerns the emblem or logo of the model. The application features the word Roadster over an asymmetrical hexagon with graphic lines at the bottom.

The trademark was registered on April 28, 2026. It covers not only electric vehicles but also batteries and branded clothing.

This is not Tesla's first activity around the Roadster in recent months. In February, the company filed two more applications: one for the name Roadster and another for the silhouette of a low coupe.

There was almost no information about the model

In recent years, Tesla has barely mentioned the Roadster publicly. The new trademark applications are effectively the first sign that the project is still alive.

In a recent financial report, the company also noted that it continues preparations for producing the new generation model.

Tesla's promises have traditionally dragged on

Musk had previously stated that the demonstration of the serial version would take place on April 1, and production would start 12-18 months after that. However, none of these promises were fulfilled.

Delays have long been a customary part of Tesla's launch of new models, but the Roadster seems to be a special case even by the company's "standards".

Is the launch really close?

For now, the new trademarks do not guarantee the imminent appearance of the car. But for a project that has seen almost no news for years, it is still an important signal.

If Tesla is indeed preparing the Roadster for production, the company will have to bring to market a model that was announced even before the mass boom of modern electric supercars. During this time, the segment has changed significantly, and competition has become much tougher.
