Lexus has revealed an updated NX for the 2027 model year, dropping the petrol-only variants and leaving just the hybrid and the plug-in hybrid in the line-up.

The central upgrade sits in the plug-in hybrid NX 450h+, which swaps its previous 18.1kWh battery for a larger 22.7kWh pack. Lexus estimates electric-only range at about 72km, roughly 13km more than the outgoing car. The plug-in also gains DC rapid charging: 10% to 80% takes 35 minutes on a 50kW charger, while a 6.6kW AC supply needs two and a half hours for a 10% to 100% top-up.

More power for the plug-in hybrid

Total system output for the NX 450h+ rises to 328hp, up from 308hp in the 2026 version. The revised powertrain pairs an uprated 206hp front electric motor with a 189hp 2.5-litre petrol engine and a 55hp motor on the rear axle. Lexus claims 0–97km/h in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 200km/h.

The NX 350h hybrid gets a smaller lift, to 247hp, 4hp more than before, and keeps its unchanged 1.1kWh battery. The front-wheel-drive version does 0–97km/h in 6.9 seconds, the all-wheel-drive one in 6.7. Suspension and steering have been reworked, and the body structure is stiffer.

Styling tweaks and German prices

Outside, the NX gets a new front end and revised rear lights. Chrome is out, replaced by black accents. Inside, every trim now has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch central touchscreen running new Lexus software, plus the Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 package with radar cruise control, lane centring, traffic jam assist, lane change assist and automatic high beams.

The figures above come from the North American announcement, where the NX 450h+ charges through a NACS port. Prices for the 2027 car had not been published at the time of writing. If you are shopping in Germany today, the current NX starts at €53,700 for the front-wheel-drive NX 350h, and the range tops out at €72,990 for the NX 450h+ AWD F Sport, on October 2026 prices.
