Subaru will stop selling new petrol cars in Europe by the end of 2027 at the latest, leaving only battery-electric models in its regional line-up. Subaru Deutschland confirmed the plan after media enquiries, though no written statement from the importer had been published at the time of writing.
That is a sharp turn from the plan set out in July 2025: Subaru Europe then presented its three electric cars as additions to the current Boxer petrol range, not as replacements for it. The updated timetable ends petrol sales in the region by late 2027. The pressure comes from EU fleet CO₂ limits and from the driver-assistance and safety requirements that make homologation expensive for a small-volume brand.
Three electric models for Europe
The Solterra produces 252 kW (338hp) and takes 5.1 seconds for 0–100 km/h. Its 73.1 kWh battery is quoted at more than 500 km, and a 10–80% charge takes 30 minutes even at -10°C with battery pre-conditioning; a 22 kW AC on-board charger is optional.

The Uncharted comes in three versions, each with a 22 kW AC charger as standard. The entry car has a 57.7 kWh gross battery and 445 km, while the front-wheel-drive Long Range moves up to a 77 kWh pack and 585 km. If you want all-wheel drive, the Dual Motor pairs that 77 kWh battery with 252 kW (338hp), 470 km and 0–100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.
The E-Outback uses a 74.7 kWh battery, 280 kW (375hp) and Symmetrical all-wheel drive, and needs 4.4 seconds to reach 97 km/h. Its range is 526 km WLTP. Ground clearance is 210 mm, X-MODE is the dual-function version and towing capacity is 1.5 tonnes.
Prices and volumes
Europe is a small part of Subaru's business: 23,000 cars sold across the region in fiscal 2025, against about 644,000 in the US in 2025. Germany accounted for 4,510 first registrations in 2024.
In the Netherlands, the Uncharted starts at €37,900. The Solterra opens at €48,900 and the E-Outback at €52,900. In the UK, Subaru still lists the current Solterra, rated at up to 289 miles (465 km) on the same cycle, with 150 kW DC and 7.0 kW AC charging; the 252 kW version does not appear in that listing.
