Reznikov thanked US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for supporting Ukraine. He also noted that with the arrival of new MLRS, the summer will be hot for the Russian occupiers, and for some - the last.
The HIMARS systems are part of a $700 million military aid package for Ukraine approved by the US on June 1. The list includes launchers and ammunition for them, as well as other types of weapons, equipment, vehicles and ammunition.
The number of installations is not disclosed. From the reports of US and Ukrainian officials, it is known that there are several vehicles. However, according to Politico, the US may transfer an additional 4 installations.
Ukrainian gunners studied HIMARS for three weeks. For security reasons, the courses were held outside of Ukraine.
M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) is a US-made multiple launch rocket system on a wheeled chassis. It can carry six MLRS rockets with a firing range of up to 70 km or one ATACMS operational-tactical ballistic missile with a range of up to 300 km.
