The Ukrainian military received the first Bayraktar TB2 in 2021 and proved very successful in combat. Ukraine's plans to acquire new Bayraktar are also large-scale, Alexey Reznikov told on Facebook.
"Since February 24 alone, the Ministry of Defense has put up to fifty" planes "in our service. Several more have already been contacted and paid for by the MOU, and we expect them in July", - the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has also received a new request from the Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and, thus, in the near future almost all the capacity of the Baykar Makina plant will be focused on meeting the needs of the Armed Forces. It is noted that we are talking about ordering "dozens of drones"
Note that yesterday the company Baykar Makin, manufacturer Bayraktar TB2, reported, that will provide free of charge to Ukraine three UAVs of this model. This is a gift to the Ukrainian people for their desire to win the war with the Russian occupiers.
Earlier, the Serhiy Prytula Foundation raised in three days 600 million ukrainian hryvnias (19.2 million euros) for the purchase of Bayraktar TB2. The manufacturer stated that it would not take public funds to spend on other needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
By the way, this was not the first charity fundraiser for Bayraktar for Ukraine. In May, Lithuanian volunteers held a similar campaign to buy a drone. At that time, Baykar Makina also donated the plane to Ukraine free of charge, and the funds raised, almost six million euros, were used to purchase ammunition.
In May 2022, Bayraktar TB2 destroyed a Russian landing craft off Snake Island in the Black Sea.
Bayraktar TB2 is a Turkish strike operational-tactical medium-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle with a long flight duration, equipped with an internal combustion engine and an automatic takeoff and landing system. The UAV body is made of composite materials.
