Toyan has created what is probably the smallest rotary engine in the world. Despite its tiny size, the 0.0024-liter engine revs high and howls loudly.

The Toyan RS-S100 engine is so tiny it fits in the palm of your hand. It seems especially small when you compare the trihedral rotor with a similar element from the Mazda 13B engine, which was installed on the Mazda RX-7.

The operation of a tiny rotary engine with a power of 0.7 hp. (0.5 kW), also known as Wankel engine by the name of the creator of this scheme, showed YouTube-author Warped Perception.

The author of the video used an electric starter to start a miniature rotary engine. After a number of unsuccessful attempts, the engine still started to start. A little more persistence and a wide-open throttle allowed the Toyan RS-S100 to run long enough to measure revs. The average value was about 30,000 rpm.

The engine managed to run long enough to melt the wire going to the spark plug. Despite its tiny size, the unit was loud enough to make the video's author's ears ring.

By the way, anyone can buy a small rotary engine at a price from $499.
