Popular YouTuber Joe Achilles found out how efficient a modern diesel engine is. He drove a BMW 7 Series from London to Madrid via the Eurotunnel, France and part of Spain.

The car in the video is a rear wheel drive BMW 7 Series 730d of the previous generation (G11). Under the hood is a 3.0L inline six-cylinder diesel engine from the BMW B57 series. Its power is 261 hp (195 kW), and a torque of 620 Nm. It is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with a torque converter. It is also worth noting that the sedan was shod in Michelin E Primacy tires.

According to the manufacturer, 78 liters of fuel are placed in the BMW 730d tank. On the eve of the trip, Joe Achilles stopped at a gas station, where he poured 58 liters of diesel fuel.

The journey began early in the morning from London and ended 22.5 hours and 1,026.5 miles (1,651 km) later in Madrid. At the same time, the fuel tank was not completely empty at the finish line and the estimated cruising range was 96 miles (154 km). That is, if necessary, a diesel sedan could drive in the same rhythm 1122 miles (1805 km) or even a little more. It is also worth noting that the car was moving in the most economical Eco Pro mode, however, the air temperature that day in some places exceeded 32 °C and the air conditioning system worked.
