A subscription to various features - from heated seats and steering wheel to wireless Apple CarPlay - began to offer an application store BMW Connected Drive in South Korea.
BMW owners can choose a monthly plan or an annual plan. It is only necessary to pay for the selected function with a card and wait a few moments until the car receives the appropriate command for the software via the Internet.
A heated seat subscription costs about $18 per month, $176 for one year, or $283 for three years. The first month is a free trial period.
A similar heated steering wheel subscription costs $10 per month, $92 per year, and $161 for three years. You can also unlock the feature permanently for $222.
Other subscription options include high-beam assistant, additional safety features and a dash cam. However, there are also more "exotic" offerings, such as the IconicSounds Sport feature, which plays fake engine noises from a sports car through the speakers. It can only be purchased permanently for $138.
It is possible that over time, something like an unofficial jailbreak (unlocking) of smartphones will appear for such cars. Such manipulations will most likely lead to the cancellation of the factory warranty, but the owner of the car will open all the hidden options.
