Germany has handed over to Ukraine Mars II multiple launch rocket systems and three PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers in addition to the seven delivered earlier. This was announced on Tuesday, July 26, by German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht.
The fact of receiving MLRS Mars II also confirmed Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
Mars II is a European modernization of the American M270 MLRS, created by Germany, Italy and France. Adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1990.
It differs from the original M270 by the EFCS (European Fire Control System) fire control system developed by Airbus Defense and Space. EFCS allows you to fire missiles M31, M31A1, M32 and AT2 at a distance of 15 to 92 km.
The artillery part of Mars II consists of two disposable blocks, each of which accommodates six transport and launch containers with rocket-propelled ammunition of 227 or 237 mm caliber.
Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine already have high-precision MLRS M142 HIMARS from the United States, as well as their tracked "relatives" - M270 from Great Britain and Mars II from Germany.
