Previously, navigation in Tesla vehicles was a standard feature for which you did not have to pay extra. Those times are over.

Tesla vehicles released after July 20, 2022 will have navigation included initially, but only for a limited period. After this initial period has elapsed, the owner will be asked to subscribe.

Owners of cars manufactured before January 9, 2020 will also have to pay. Free navigation will remain only for cars manufactured from January 9, 2020 to July 20, 2022.

You will have to pay extra for navigation after eight years from the date of the first sale of the car. Next, Tesla will offer to subscribe to the Premium Connectivity service for $9.99 per month or $99 per year. In this case, the user will receive not only basic navigation, but also add-ons: an Internet browser, real-time traffic visualization, streaming video playback, etc.

Navigation is an important Tesla feature because the brand's infotainment system does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The change in access to lifetime navigation will mainly affect customers who buy old used cars. Tesla says these customers will be informed at the time of purchase how long they can access the Standard Connectivity package and its free navigation.
