In the first gathering of the initiative "Arm Ukraine" its organizers plan to buy three Mi-2 AM-1 helicopters with medical equipment for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. Aircraft will be used to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield.
The helicopters will be purchased from the Ukrainian company Avia Grade on special terms. Thus, the Poles will support Ukrainian industry and simplify logistics. In addition, it will be easier for the Ukrainian military to maintain familiar equipment and find spare parts for it.
The goal of the action is to raise PLN 8.1 million ($1.72 million) in 35 days.
The “Arm Ukraine” initiative is announced as a cyclical one, which will last as long as the Ukrainian army needs support. After completing the helicopter mission, another one will be announced.
