The “ultra-fast” charger of the Chinese company Xpeng is almost twice as powerful as the Tesla Supercharger.

The presentation of the Xpeng S4 charger took place at the Supercharging Media Day event in Guangzhou. During the test, an Xpeng G9 SUV was connected to a 480 kW charger. In just five minutes, the G9 battery added electricity for 200 km of run.

By comparison, a third-generation Tesla Supercharger station with a capacity of 250 kW can add only 150 km in the same time.

Charging Xpeng S4 is protected from atmospheric agents according to the IP67 standard. It has a liquid cooling system, thanks to which it was possible to keep the connector and cable relatively small. The built-in security control chip is responsible for the correct operation of the device.

Xpeng has already begun rolling out a network of "ultra-fast" charging stations in ten Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. During 2023, more charging stations will be opened in other cities and on major highways. If all goes according to plan, Xpeng's own network in China will have 2,000 charging stations by 2025.
