Christian von Koenigsegg may be used to driving and designing some of the most expensive and exclusive production cars on the planet, but he knows where the bargain is when it comes to performance cars. The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray of the C8 generation is just that.

The head of Sweden's most famous supercar company recently attended Monterey Car Week, where the automaker unveiled the new CC850. During the event, he spoke with The Drive and told how impressed he was with the C8 Corvette.

"What a bang for the dollar," he said. “The fact that GM can do this for this kind of money, with this level of performance, is mind-boggling. It's good for them, and good for their customers."

The C8 Corvette has received a lot of accolades since its introduction, in part because the 2020 model starts at under $60,000, which used to be unbelievable for a mid-engined sports car offering such high performance. While the car's starting price has since risen to $65,595 for a 2023 model, it's still relatively affordable and significantly cheaper than its European rivals.
