It's been a long time coming, but the next-generation BMW M5 (G90) has finally been spotted testing in.

The BMW M5 (G90) is one of the most highly anticipated cars of the year. And these latest spy photos have just revealed a bit more about its exterior design. As expected, the prototype features production-ready headlights, but the taillights are still covered by heavy camouflage. Of course, the cladding covers the front-end, but we can still see a massive front bumper and a properly-sized kidney grille. In the back, we're getting the typical quad pipes of BMW M cars, along with a subtle trunk spoiler.

The BMW M5 has always been the pinnacle of performance and luxury. When it was first released in 1984, it set the standard for what a sports sedan should be. Now, in 2024 BMW M5 we expect a large curved display, powerful iDrive 8 system, M Sports seats and carbon bucket seats as an option, along premium leather and trims.

The current generation M5, the F90, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4 liter V8 engine that produces 600 horsepower and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. It's an absolutely incredible car but it's not particularly efficient. In fact, its combined fuel economy rating is only 21 mpg. The next-gen M5 (G90) will be much more efficient, thanks to its new plug-in hybrid powertrain.

With a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain, this sedan is sure to impress. The twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine provides plenty of power, while the electric motor ensures efficient performance. Rumored to make around an impressive 750 horsepower and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque, this car is sure to be a favorite among perfomance car enthusiasts.

The BMW M5 has always been the pinnacle of performance for the Bavarian automaker. The current M5 CS, is no exception, with a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds and a quarter-mile time in the 10s. But even that impressive performance is about to be blown away by the all new M5. Despite being heavier than the CS, the G90 will be the fastest M5 in history. How? By taking advantage of its electric powertrain.

The exact specs are still unknown, but we can expect at least 50 kilometers of electric range on the WLTP cycle. That should be more than enough to take down even the most hardcore challengers at the track.
