The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla made its grand entrance in March of this year, and it's safe to say that the Japanese car brand has certainly made a triumphant return to the hot hatch segment in the United States. The new model is the spiritual successor to the Toyota Corolla AE86, which was a rear-wheel-drive hot hatch that was popular in the 1980s.
The sporty looking hatchback is now available for purchase, and we have all of the official pricing details for you below.
2023 Toyota Corolla Core
The GR Toyota Corolla's base price is $36,995. The entry-level trim is the 'Core,' which 5,000 are expected to be assembled for America in the first production year. It comes with sport seats and gray and black interior accents, as well as aluminum pedals and a 12.3-inch instrument display. An 8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a six-speaker radio system are standard. The Performance option (which adds limited-slip differentials), a Technology package that includes navigation, wireless phone charging, and JBL eight-speaker sound system, and a Cold Weather kit with heated seats are all optional on Core model.
2023 Toyota Corolla Circuit Edition
The next level is the Circuit Edition, priced at $43,995. This is a one-year launch model of the hot hatch that will be available for sale only during the 2023 model year. Its basic equipment includes limited-slip differentials for both front and rear axles, a carbon-fiber roof, synthetic leather upholstery, and a premium audio system, although these are not standard on the GR Corolla Core. This higher-priced and betterequipped version will be manufactured in a small run of around 1,500 cars.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition
The GR Corolla's top-of-the-line Morizo Edition is priced at $50,995 for the 2023 model year. It has more torque than the other two versions as well as a weight reduction package that removes the rear seats, rear speakers, rear window regulators, rear wiper blade, and rear wiper motor. There's no word on how many units will be produced during the GR Corolla Morizo Edition's production run.
The 2023 GR Corolla is powered by a 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts) and 273 pound-feet (370 Newton-meters) of torque, regardless of trim level. The Morizo Edition has a peak torque of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). Toyota's GR-Four all-wheel-drive system sends power to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
All models come standard with such features as automated emergency braking, pedestrian recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. In addition to that, the vehicle includes a one-year membership to National Auto Sport Association (the other NASA) and a High-Performance Driving Event with instruction.
