Automotive News reports that the future of Volkswagen sedans is looking rather bleak.

After the death of the Passat in America, it looks like the Arteon will be next to go. According to reports, it will be discontinued in 2024. However, there is some good news: the model is slated to be replaced by the ID Aero.

The electric vehicle was previewed by a concept in June, and it's intended to be a premium mid-sized sedan built on the MEB system. Volkswagen didn't provide many details about the concept, but it had a 77 kWh battery pack and an EPA range of up to 620 miles (1120 km).

The VW Arteon, starting at $42,045, is currently a competitor to the Toyota Avalon, Nissan Maxima, and Dodge Charger in the American market. Its 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
