The teaser picture was released precisely 63 hours before the premiere.

Mercedes-AMG has already shown a near-production prototype of the C63 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year, and now it's about to show off the sports sedan.

The next generation will only be available with 4Matic all-wheel drive, unlike its predecessor which was rear-wheel. The new C63 will use the 2.0-liter M139 turbocharged inline-four engine from the "45" versions, with more horsepower and mounted longitudinally. A rear-mounted electric motor will consume juice from a 6.1-kWh battery, and yes, the vehicle will be a plug-in hybrid.

Because of its PHEV design, the AMG C63 should be able to travel solely on electricity. However, given the fact that the battery will be small, the combustion engine will automatically start up sooner rather than later.

The world premiere of the new sports sedan is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21. The C63 Estate may also be introduced, but the C63 Coupe and Cabriolet will not be launched as the two-door C-Class and E-Class are merged into CLE.
