New Ford Transit Custom family debuted at IAA Transportation Motorshow in Hanover, Germany.

The E-Transit Custom is available as either a standard or more powerful variant. The standard model has 135 horsepower (100 kilowatts), while the more powerful one makes 217 hp (160 kW). Both setups offer 306 pound-feet (415 Newton-meters) of torque.

The van's battery has a 74-kilowatt-hour capacity, which allows it to travel up to 236 miles (380 kilometers) on one charge in the WLTP test. The pack supports DC fast charging at speeds of up to 125 kilowatts. Additionally, the system can also provide 2.3 kW of electricity to tools or other devices that need power.

The E-Transit Custom comes in two sizes and two roof heights. This van has a load volume of between 205 and 317.8 cubic feet (5.8 and 9 cubic meters). It can tow up to 4,409 pounds (2,000 kg).

The Transit Custom plug-in hybrid has a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a battery with an 11.8 kWh usable capacity. The system, like the completely electric one, can supply 2.3 kW to power electrical appliances. The estimated pure electric driving range of the system is 35.42 miles (57 kilometers).

The Transit Custom also comes in four diesel engine options for customers who prefer a traditional engine: 109 hp (81 kW), 134 hp (100 kW), 148 hp (110 kW), or 168 hp (125 kW). The diesel engine is also available in a number of drivetrain configurations. A mechanical limited-slip differential is optional on a six-speed manual. An eight-speed automatic is another option. All-wheel drive is an additional alternative.

The new Transit Custom with the diesel powerplant will become available in mid-2023, and the electric version will join shortly thereafter in fall 2023. All of the van's variants are assembled at the Ford Otosan facility located in Kocaeli, Turkey.
