Fire breaks out at Tesla Gigafactory Berlin

Tesla's own fire department at Gigafactory Berlin phoned the local fire department of the municipality of Grünheide, where the plant is situated, in the early hours of the morning for assistance.

A fire broke out on Monday night on the premises of Tesla's Gigafactory in Grünheide. The fire brigades of the municipality of Grünheide were called at 3.33 a.m. by the Tesla plant fire brigade. A pile of cardboard is said to have burned on the site.

According to information from the Oderland regional office, several fire brigades from the municipality of Grünheide and the turntable ladder from Erkner were used. It took hours and 50 firefighters to get a blaze under control. Fortunately, no one was injured and the fire didn't propagate to other parts of the factory.

Tesla has yet to comment on the fire at Gigafactory Berlin.

Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is Tesla's first manufacturing location in Europe. The factory was officially opened on March 22, 2022 to produce the Tesla Model Y.
