The BMW 2-Series Active Tourer will get a new entry-level engine for European markets. Until now, the 136-horsepower 218i was the entry-level model, but now the even slightly more modestly powered 216i will be added below that.
The new BMW 216i Active Tourer powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum output of 90 kW/122 hp and a maximum torque of 230 Nm. The engine's power is delivered to the front wheels via a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with dual clutch as standard.
The new BMW 216i Active Tourer accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds. Former entry-level 218i completes that same job in exactly 9 seconds. At 6.2-6.7 l/100 km, the average consumption of the 122-hp engine is comparable to that of the 218i (6.2-6.8 l/100 km).
In Germany, the BMW 216i is valued at no less than 34,000 euros.
