The Toyota FJ Cruiser is no longer being sold in the United States or Japan, though it is still available in some areas of the Middle East. However, even there its days are numbered.

Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, the authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Saudi Arabia since 1955, has announced that production for the FJ Cruiser will end in December 2022. The 2023 Toyota FJ Cruiser Final Edition will be produced in a limited run of only 1,000 units. These final models will be similar to the 2017 version of the FJ Cruiser Final Edition that was launched in Japan. Although no images have been released yet, it is expected that all 1,000 cars will be identical to this Japan-specification special version.

The 'Final Edition' will come in a single-tone select beige color for the exterior, upholstery, and center cluster trim, creating "a distinctive sense of modernity". Further adding to the vehicle's rugged appeal, a special black coating has been applied extensively throughout the exterior, including the blacked-out grill, bumpers, exterior mirrors, door handles, and spare tire cover.

There are no significant changes to the engine for this limited-edition version. The off-roader will continue to be powered by a 4.0-liter V6 gasoline engine that produces 270 horsepower (201 kilowatts) and 380 Newton-meters (280 pound-feet) to both front and rear axles. Of course, the vehicle will come with features like Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), Crawl Control, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with an off switch, and an electronically controlled locking rear differential.

The FJ Cruiser was originally introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model and was based on the same platform as the Toyota Tacoma. It was designed with off-road capability in mind and came with features such as a rear-mounted spare tire, skid plates, and fog lights.

In 2015, Toyota announced that it would discontinue the FJ Cruiser in the United States due to declining sales. However, it continued to be sold in other markets such as the Middle East. However, with production set to end in December 2022, it will soon be gone for good. If you're looking for an off-road capable SUV, you'll need to find another option.
