The Rebelle Rally is an off-road race for female drivers that takes place in the California and Nevada deserts. This year, Hyundai decided to enter the fray with a custom Santa Cruz pickup truck modified for rough terrain.

The Rebelle Rally Santa Cruz received minimal modifications, including off-road tires, skid plate, and lift kit. The modifications were led by Hyundai Motor America model line engineer Eric Buxton.

The livery seen on this truck was created by Hyundai Design North America designers Brad Arnold and Matt Marble. It's intended to use a bandana motif to highlight the California surfing lifestyle. On top of that, the team Brute Squad logo, designed by Ciminillo herself, sits on the hood along with the team's sponsors.

This specially-equipped Hyundai Santa Cruz will compete in the seventh annual Rebelle Rally, an all-women, off-road navigational challenge starting Oct. 6. The special Santa Cruz will be piloted by auto writers Jill Ciminillo and Kristin Shaw who named their team the Brute Squad.

For eight days, each team of two women will only have a map and compass to guide them through the 1,553 miles (2,500 km) of Nevada and California desert. No cell phones or GPS devices are allowed during the event.
