The all-electric EQS 580 4MATIC has officially entered production at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Pune, India. This makes it the 14th Mercedes model to be produced in India and marks the first time an EV has been built outside of Germany.

The EQS 580 4MATIC, made locally, uses a 107.8 kWh battery pack with 400-volt technology to send power through two electric motors. The car is good for 385 kW (516 hp) and 855 Nm (631 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds and continue through to a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph).

Not only does the EQS 580 4MATIC electric car deliver excellent levels of performance, but its range is unrivaled in India. Under real-world driving conditions, it can go up to 677 km (421 miles), and 857 km (533 miles) under the Automotive Search Association of India's test standards.

Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, "The EQS 580 4MATIC is our first locally manufactured EV in India and will play a pivotal role in driving our ambitious EV plans for the market. It is a perfect blend of technology, luxury and safety, pioneering numerous tech features for our customers. India is the first country outside Germany to manufacture the EQS 580 4MATIC, and this unique distinction underpins Mercedes-Benz India's deep customer commitment and long-term vision for developing the luxury EV market here."

With the local debut of the EQS, Mercedes-Benz India now produces a range of series Mercedes vehicles, AMG cars, Maybach-branded models, and electric vehicles on the same site.

Mercedes-Benz has launched its EQS 580 4Matic in India at a price equivalent to 188,100 USD.
