TAG Heuer unveils two timepieces to honor the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Only a limited number will be available.

TAG Heuer's newest model, offered in color schemes inspired by the 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, is a limited edition timepiece created to celebrate the automotive company's first "Carrera" branded vehicle.

"The name and spirit of the Carrera are incredibly meaningful and emblematic for both TAG Heuer and Porsche," said TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault. "So, for the 50th anniversary of the very first Porsche 911 Carrera, the iconic RS 2.7, we wanted to create a tribute watch that would express the character and power of this groundbreaking sportscar within our own signature TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph."

The watches were introduced to the public at an event in Paris on October 5, 2022, exactly 50 years after the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was launched. The first Porsche 911 to be given the "Carrera" name was a car meant to be driven on roads, but that could also occasionally race.

These special edition watches, equipped with TAG Heuer's most advanced movement, the Calibre Heuer 02, which has a power reserve of 80 hours. The movement's oscillating mass, meanwhile, has been customized to look like Porsche's three-spoke steering wheel and is visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

The timepiece will be offered in two colors that are inspired by the 1972 color options offered on Porsche: Indischrot (Guards Red) and Glasurblau (Glazier Blue).

The Sporty Blue Edition will be limited to just 500 examples and will get a polished steel case, rhodium-plated indexes, and hour and minute hands that are designed to recall the chrome door handles of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The dial, meanwhile, is smooth white opalin and the two sub-counters have a snailed finish.

The Sporty Red Edition will be even more limited, with just 250 examples being offered. Each gets an 18K 5N rose gold case, crown, and pushers. The shimmering white dial is surrounded by Guards Red lines and rose-gold colored applied indexes.

The blue chronograph starts at $7,750 and the red model is $23,550. You can find them select TAG Heuer boutiques or retail partners.
