The EQE SUV is the multi-purpose variant of the EQE executive saloon. Like the latter, it is available with the essential innovations of the EQS and at the same time is more dynamic than the EQS SUV.

Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is a crossover-ized variant of the EQE sedan, based on the same EVA2 architecture that underpins that model, as well as the larger EQS sedan and EQS SUV. There are four models of the electric crossover - the EQE 350+, 350 4Matic, and 500, as well as the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV. The EQE will launch in America before anywhere else, likely within early next year. It will be built in Alabama alongside the EQS SUV.

The EQE 350+ SUV will feature a single, rear-mounted electric motor, good for 288 horsepower and 417 pound-feet, while the all-wheel-drive EQE 350 4Matic adds a front motor to the mix, keeping power the same but bringing torque to 564 lb-ft.

The EQE 500 SUV comes standard with all-wheel drive, with higher-performance dual motors bringing 536 hp and 633 lb-ft to the table. Both the single-motor EQE 350+ SUV and the EQE 500 SUV have more power than their EQE sedan counterparts, but the same torque.

Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV using unique electric motors and AMG-specific inverters. The hottest crossover variant makes 617 hp and 701 lb-ft in standard form, rising to 677 hp and 737 lb-ft if the buyer selects the optional AMG Performance Package. The cars will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 149 mph. However, without the performance pack, expect those numbers to be lower at 3.7 seconds and 130 mph for the regular AMG car.

Hidden in the floor is a 90.6-kilowatt-hour battery pack shared with the EQE sedan. Depending on the vehicle equipment and configuration, the European vehicles can achieve WLTP ranges of up to 590 kilometres (366 miles). Although we don't have an EPA rating yet, we're hoping for a single charge range of about 300 miles.

The EQE SUV offers the possibility of activating additional vehicle functions via over-the-air technology (OTA) in a number of functional areas. This means that after purchase and having chosen the original new car configuration, some of the EQE SUV's equipment can be individually customised. The OTA functions are available in the Mercedes me Store, and the range will be successively expanded.

Production of the EQE SUV will start at the Mercedes‑Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (USA) in December. The battery factory in nearby Bibb County supplies the batteries for this model as well as for the EQS SUV.

Mercedes says that the first EQE SUVs will be available sometime in the first half of next year. They will come in three different forms: 350+, 350 4Matic, and 500 4Matic. The Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV will come a few months later. It is not yet known what the price for this car will be, but we expect it to start at around $75,000 and go up to maybe $120,000 for the AMG variant.
