Tesla has launched a brand new version of its J1772 Wall Connector for $550 on its website. According to the description on the company website:
"J1772 Wall Connector is a convenient charging solution for Tesla and non-Tesla electric vehicles alike, and is ideal for houses, apartments, hospitality properties and workplaces."
J1772 Wall Connector can charge your vehicle up to 44 miles per hour, has a 24-foot cable, multiple power settings, and an indoor/outdoor design. It also comes with the ability to share power so you won't overload your existing electrical capacity. Plus, it automatically distributes power which lets you charge more than one vehicle at a time.
Tesla's own vehicles can use the station, but they will need to use an adapter that comes with the car. If not, Tesla owners will have to utilize Tesla's original Wall Connector, which comes with the cheaper Tesla proprietary plug at $400.
