Honda has removed the base LX trim for the Civic in 2023. This increases the starting price for the car by over $2,000.

In the US, Honda has eliminated the base Civic LX on both the sedan and hatch for 2023. This means a Honda Civic cant be had for under $25,000 anymore.

The new base model for the Civic is the Sport. This model costs $25,745. This price includes a $1,095 mandatory destination charge (and no options). The Civic Sport is $2,100 more than the outgoing LX.

With the Sport model, you get more content for your money including 18-inch black wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Sport is also the only way to get the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 158 horsepower engine while Civic EX and Touring both come with the more powerful 180-hp turbocharged engine.

But what if you don't need all that? That leaves you with the Honda HR-V LX crossover, starting at $24,895. Or go for another brand.
