The Ford Fiesta has been around for seven generations and has come in many shapes, sizes, and forms, including three-door and five-door hatchbacks, a sedan, and even a van. According to a report by Auto Express, it seems as if the subcompact model is sadly not going to be around for much longer.

Auto Express has learned from sources close to Ford that production of the Fiesta may end as the middle of next year. The company will reportedly inform "select parties" of this decision in the near future.

When contacted by the journalists, the automaker refused to comment about the car's possible discontinuation: "We are accelerating our efforts to go all-in on electrification and therefore review our vehicle portfolio in line with our business strategy. We do not comment on speculation and will share more information in the coming months."

Ford Fiesta for European markets is produced at the Cologne factory in Germany. This is also where Ford plans to construct EVs using the Volkswagen Group's MEB architecture.

Ford of Europe's Chief Transformation and Quality Officer Stuart Rowley announced that the B-segment hatch could return one day, as mentioned by Auto Express: "This will not be the end of the journey. We'll only sell electric passenger cars by 2030. We look forward to developing future plans."
