The Ukrainian company Ukrspecsystems developed the Shark UAV, which can operate in electronic warfare, fly 60 km behind enemy lines, and monitor the battlefield to help correct artillery fire.

The Shark UAV was created in response to Russia's full-scale attack on Ukraine, which occurred on February 24, 2022. It took the team six months to develop the product from drawings to its first flight.

"The development of the new drone was actually carried out during the full-scale invasion as a prompt response of our company to the challenges and needs of the Ukrainian army. This is another proof of the coolness and resilience of the Ukrainian people, because in such difficult conditions we are able to create world-class high-tech products!" Ukrspecsystems stated.

As stated by the creators, Shark UAV is prepared to be used in battle conditions. This drone was designed for a specific use case: operating missions into enemy-occupied territory, conducting aerial recon and adjustments, particularly with western long-range weapons like the German PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer or American HIMARS rocket artillery system.

This UAV is equipped with a reliable communication module and a powerful camera system. It can get up to 60 km behind enemy lines and conduct surveillance from up to 5 km away. This is essential for planning offensive operations and predicting the enemy's movements. The drone takes off with a catapult and lands with a parachute.

Technical specifications of the Shark UAV:

  • Flight time - more than 2 hours
  • Communication range - 60 km
  • Practical ceiling - 2000 m
  • Take-off weight - 10 kg
  • Wingspan - 1.91 m
  • Deployment time - 15 minutes
  • Operating temperature - from -15 C to +50 C
  • Cruising speed - 70-90 km/h
  • Maximum flight speed - 150 km/h
  • Stall speed - 60 km/h

It's likely that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are already using the new Shark UAV in their war against Russian occupation forces.
